I heard a church official recently say basically ‘We don’t use the Old Testament, at all, for anything… we look at the Old Testament from a New Testament perspective, the shadows revealed THROUGH Christ.’
I agree… so…
“Proselyte baptism is an ancient Jewish ritual of purification and initiation in which a Gentile convert to Judaism would undergo full-body immersion in water. It symbolized the washing away of past idolatry and uncleanness. Alongside circumcision and sacrifice, it served as the formal requirement for a new convert to enter the Jewish covenant.” Google it.
Jesus was being washed into Judaism and the naturalization of Judea. Being a Nazarene. A Samaritan. So they were forced to listen to Him. “Fulfill all righteousness” “made manifest to Israel”
Why baptize in, if baptized out!? Strongs G911 Bapto… dip, immerse, stain with a dye.
John the Baptizer said, “…The one who comes after me!!!!“ does what?
“Revelation 1:5 KJVS
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood…”
As in… new truth of old shadow…
“Exodus 24:8 KJVS
And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.”
“Hebrews 10:22 KJVS
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”
“John 4:10 KJVS
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.”
Our HEARTS are sprinkled…
AND the literal water was Mosaic and Levitical…
Old or new?
“Ephesians 4:4-5 KJVS
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; [5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism…”
Also bread, body, to drink a cup, passover, etc, etc, etc…
I have no hate for churches or tradition. But traditions have changed in every fulfillment of scripture. Every new era (not dispensationalist) up until Christ…
Water and bread and wine and all these things…
Golden Calves.
Not hate. Not anger. Not malice.
It’s just that we have grown up a lot since the old days. The traditions of the elders was something much different. And like EVERY cycle before it. It eventually becomes a condom. When you can just not have sex…
Who died in the desert of provocation? The older. The younger inherited the promised land.
Because the older had held onto the shadows.
Who walked away first when Christ said THROW YOUR STONES!? The older.
Because they heard what He said. They knew what He was saying. And they knew. Shadows can’t stand. And they had lied. Self justified.
They had hung on so long they lost the plot.
“Matthew 23:15 KJVS
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.”
We were told not to go back. We were told to walk away from it. We were told that returning to these things place us back in bondage…
Unless you are born of the water and Spirit… John 3:5
Someone said THIS DOES NOT MEAN WATER OF THE WOMB… but…
That which is born of flesh is flesh and that which is born of Spirit is Spirit… John 3:6
He literally repeated it and rephrased it. To. Imply. It’s. Meaning.
Born of man. Then born of God.
That’s how it happens. Anyone not born of flesh (water of the womb) has not need to be born of Spirit… he’s playing with words. While also slighting the Pharisees. He did a LOT of lil jabs at the elite.
Wonder why?
God bless.
Amen.
