Wretched…

The Bible talks about mans wretchedness. And I admit I am…

Christ never really beat down on people, nor shamed them. He pointed it out. He looked through souls. He called someone a dog.

This was language for the time. People think that scripture is some vacuum…

Anything that is stated in scripture is for a specific time frame and people in its verbiage. Especially through the lens of translations.

It invokes imagery from a bygone era. “Christ is King” we don’t really have that here in America.

Supreme leader, Boss, Lord, Alpha, In charge…

CEO?

Wretchedness. In those days it was a clear language. We don’t call people wretched in many common conversations nowadays.

I saw something today that said “I’ve made my phone my idol…”

No, you brain rot. In a society that is brain rot. Because you’re missing something. Like I am.

The language is outdated, the philosophical and psychological profile of man… still the same.

We have a society that looks very different than when Christ came. (There is actually some very interesting math for human history in full and the specific timing of His incarnation. Humanity in its most vulnerable and also conscious beginnings… child like.)

We suck. That is something I think MOST people would agree with. We corrupt basically everything we touch. We monetize and DEMONitize if someone speaks a way we disapprove of. We make everything about us. Psychologically we’re all borderline miserable. Dependent. Greedy. Shallow. Over worked. And simultaneously bored out of our skulls.

We care what everyone thinks even if we make “I don’t care what anyone thinks” our mantra.

We pretend for people we don’t like that we’re forced to be around. Then we sit in bed sad, lonely, misunderstood, or oblivious to anyone else pain. Even the most awakened of us have those quiet moments. That gnawing. That stillness.

“Why does it hurt? Who am I? Why did I say that? Do they love me? What if I mess up? I’m tired of working… I’m tired of going through the motions… I’m tired…”

Christ wasn’t beating us into the floor. He wasn’t reprimanding us for being less… He actively places Himself in the same situation. Had no home. Ate of what He was given. Took on the chastisement of men who had no respect, or vision of who He was as a person. He was drug through litigious accusations… by people who still thought a common cold, or mental health episode was a demonic possession.

He got some of the worst of us. Thrust upon Him. Then they lifted Him up…

Civilization has changed. We have so much and so little at the same time…

And we’re all wondering if anyone even sees us…

At war with our minds, emotions, inadequacies, fears and pains…

I first and foremost can face my own shortcomings and difficulties. Imperfect over here… if this offends you. I would hope that you would wrestle with why it does.

Keep going.

“John 1:1-5 KJVS
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

John 10:27-28 KJVS
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: [28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Romans 7:24-25 KJVS
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? [25] I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Genesis 16:13 KJVS
And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
